THE VAULT | Old Speedways – Pine Bowl Speedway

Pine Bowl Speedway was one of the most popular tracks in the Eastern N.Y. Region. Racing on Sunday afternoons, this track hosted Auto Racing to several families and friends and the memories are ever lasting thru many generations. This video covers photos and 8mm movies from opening season in 1948 with a series of photos when the track originally opened as a dirt track.

A 1950s section has some classic movie footage with some of the greatest Drivers in Eastern N.Y. getting their first taste of Auto Racing. Dick Hansen, Howie Westervelt, Link Petit, Sales Casey, Tommy Corellis, Marty Beberwyck, Al Poole and Short clips of one of the most famous cars One Lap Lena.

A 1960s section covers the Modified and Bomber Classes with loads of action racing and crashes. Also there are some short highlights on Midgets and a Demo Derby. At the end of this video, take a tour around the speedway as it sits today.
